iPhone 12 Review, Specs and Price
The iPhone 12 comes as Apple's flagship provision that succeeds the iPhone 11 of last year. It comes with traces of elements picked up from other Apple devices in the chassis. An improved hardware is bundled in the chassis, which promises improved performance over the model of last year.
We have flat and smooth edges here like we saw on the likes of iPhone 5, iPhone 4, and iPhone SE.
SE iPhone . The flat edges cause the aluminum and glass frames to remain flushed.
There are signs of the iPhone 11 components on the rear and front panels in terms of aesthetics. And what's more, Apple did not reduce the notch, which is a kind of deviation from what the leaks have projected, and also a bummer for enthusiasts like me who want the notch to perish.
Speaking on the front panel, as seen on the iPhone , Apple kept the display at 6.1-inches. The display technology, however has been updated, seeing a jump from an LCD panel to a Super retina XDR OLED panel.
The display has a resolution is set at 1170 x 2532. It also bears a density of 460 PPI. However, apple skipped featuring a 120Hz refresh rate, which was a feature most enthusiats expected to see on the iPhone, considering how popular the feature has become amongst high-end flagship smartphones .
Paired with this display for protection, is a Ceramic Shield, which Apple claims will offer four times the drop protection we have had on other iPhones from the past. This ceramic shield comprises ceramic glass crystals, which were placed inside the glass layer, to make the screen more durable.
Among the features released on the iPhone 12 is Magsafe, a feature that was first seen on Apple Macbooks.
Magsafe is more or less a circular magnet on the rear, which helps to align wireless chargers faster in more of a snap mechanism. Aside from chargers, Magsafe will also allow attachment of other accessories, such as cases, wallets for third parties and more.
The iPhone 12 retains the same cameras from the iPhone 11, but with a smaller aperture, as can be seen in the primary rear camera.
The rear camera department is packed with dual cameras, the primary camera being a 12MP wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture, instead of the f/1.8 aperture on the iPhone 11.
This reduction in aperture will help in low-light photography and portrait photography. Speaking of low-light photography, the iPhone 12 supports low-light portrait photography.

The other camera on the back is a 12MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a 120-point field of view. Video recording is maxed at 4k 60fps, which enthusiasts may consider a slight drop, given the fact that Samsung Galaxy S20 plus features 8k video recording.
The front camera department maintains the same front 12 MP as the iPhone 11, but it adds photography in the night mode, which would assist in taking photos in low light conditions.
On performance hardware, the iPhone 12 pushes the limits of the world's first 5nm cell phone processor and its Apple A14 bionic chip that we saw earlier on the Apple iPad Air 2020.
The other output facilitators include Apple's quad-core GPU, 4 GB RAM, and triple storage options that include internal storage of 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB.
As rumors have shown the iPhone 12 as well as its other siblings in the series will be shipped without a charger. Apple claims that no charger in the box will reduce the size of the package, which will reduce the number of vehicles needed for shipping, which will also help with carbon emissions.
Apple may claim that this move is geared towards the reduction of environmental damage, but it can also be seen as a move through more light on its mag safe chargers, which will help increase sales.
However, Apple has not yet removed the charging port, which means that Apple fans boys and girls can purchase charging bricks separately.
Speaking of charging, the iPhone 12 offers 20W fast wired charging, which promises 50 percent charge in 30 minutes and as0 15W wireless charging.
The iPhone 12 is rocking the iOS 14.1 on the software. It comes packed with all the newest goodies, including the newly introduced widgets.
The release of iPad Pro 12.9 2020 with USB Type-C ports may have given suggestions of getting a USB Type-C port on iPhones 2020, but with the iPhone 12 and its siblings, it certainly did not hold through.
Apple kept the lightning port in place. The cord that comes in the box has a lighting connector on one side and a USB-C connector on the other.
Other iPhone 12 connectivity features include NFC, Bluetooth, dual band WiFi.
iPhone 12 Price and Availability
iPhone 12 starts at around $799. You can buy the smartphone at leading online stores. Price starts at around 470,000 Naira in Nigeria and 125,500 KSh in Kenya.
The price of the 128GB iPhone 12 sells for $849, while the 256GB varaint sells for $949.
Given the innovation wrapped around 5G internet access, the iPhone 12 is the first iPhone with 5G connectivity, which was pretty much anticipated.
At the moment, the fact that 5G coverage is a bit small is almost undeniable. Apple, however is offering fans with 5G access for seamless high-definition video streaming, quicker updates and much more.
